Colourful Bathroom Design Inspiration
The use of colour in bathroom design is a critical consideration for any homeowner or designer looking to create a visually appealing and functional space. Choosing the right colours can impact the mood and atmosphere of the room, as well as the perceived size and overall aesthetic appeal.
Below, we explore the importance of colour in bathroom design with C.P. Hart's expert designer insights on selecting the right colours with colourful bathroom product recommendations.

The Theory of Colour: How Does Colour Make You Feel?
“Artelinea's Dicroico basin is such a clever take on the fluidity of light," says Yousef Mansuri, C.P. Hart Director of Design. "It’s a stylish piece with a beautiful lightness of form, but its shifting colours also inject a sense of play into any bathroom.”

Cool vs Warm Bathroom Lighting
“The appearance of colour can hugely differ depending on the room’s lighting. As a rule of thumb, all colours should be tested in the room(s) before committing. Samples and swatches are great for this,” explains Emma Scott, C.P. Hart’s Director of Client Design.

Complimentary Opposites and Colour Contrasts
“A maximum of one or two bright colours can prevent your scheme from becoming overwhelming,” says Emma Scott, Director of Client Design. “To balance these statement tones, try combining them with more muted, softer shades.”
Our wellness-oriented designer room set collaboration with Bradley Van Der Straeten features pastel blues and pinks, a contrasting yet calming bathroom colour combination.

How Much Colour Is Too Much Colour?
Monotone bathrooms, designed with a single colour or a combination of similar hues, create a balanced, calming aesthetic, and colourful accessories can always be added (and removed) as desired. On the other hand, bolder bathrooms with a plethora of tones and textures make for an exciting and characterful room. And, layered on top of colour choice comes brassware finishes: will you opt for classical Chrome taps, the updated and very sought-after Brushed Nickel finish, or Polished Gold for regal flair?

Selecting The Right Pieces
Once you have finalised your colour palette, you are able to carefully choose the right pieces that you know will fit into your colourful bathroom scheme – often one of the most exciting parts of the bathroom journey.

The Power of Bathroom Tiling
Single-coloured tiles are well suited to both simple and bright bathroom colour schemes. Our Luminous Lume tile collection displays 12 alluring finishes and offers tonal variation for an artisanal, hand-made quality, even in smaller spaces.
Alternatively, patterned tiles introduce luxurious detailing and an additional texture to your colourful bathroom. Our Venti tile collection, inspired by traditional floors from the 19th and 20th centuries, does well to add artistic flair to the bathroom, whilst our Wanderlust range draws on the world’s most exotic stones to add panache to any bathroom.

Striking Bathroom Ceramics
Alternatively, if you’re hoping to achieve a bolder look, the luxury concrete basins from British brand Kast are an exceptional choice. Available in 28 colours, the eye-catching Kast basins offer the perfect opportunity to express vivid individuality.

Jewel-Like Bathroom Brassware
From Italian makers Fantini comes Venezia, a unique collection of brassware featuring cylindrical glass handles in three colour combinations. A regal focal point, these jewel-like handles display unparalleled skill and draw upon the centuries-old tradition of glass art.
In contrast, gold and bronze finishes are a softer yet luxurious colour option that accentuate the brighter colours in your bathroom. Please visit our recent project at the Old Rectory for inspiration, where gold brassware stands out against the Cielo Catino Ovale basin in the Polvere finish.
