GERMAN GYMNASIUM
German Gymnasium, a Grade II listed building located in Kings Cross, London, was built in 1865 for the German Gymnastics Society and hosted London’s first indoor Olympic Games in 1866. C.P. Hart was privileged to supply the bathrooms as part of its transformation into a fine dining establishment.The Specification
C.P. Hart worked alongside contractor Air Cool Engineering and interior designer and architect Conran & Partners on the conversion of the German Gymnasium. The building’s design drew on its original features, retaining its open space to showcase the impressive triple-height ceilings.For the bathrooms, C.P. Hart supplied wall-mounted Dornbracht basin mixers in the Brushed Durabrass finish, coordinating with the matching accessories such as the soap dispensers, handrails, and toilet roll holders. Duravit Starck 3 WCs and urinals in a classic ceramic glaze complement the bathrooms’ marble tiling.
The Result
In keeping with the building’s rich history, C.P. Hart ensured the bathrooms’ brassware was dramatic yet glamorous, offering optimal hygiene with Dornbracht’s contact-free design. The Brushed Durabrass finish creates an aesthetically pleasing contrast against the monochrome backdrop of marble tiles and the Muzeo wall art, illustrating a gymnastics narrative to create visual interest.CONTACT US
