Greyhound Lane

The owners of Greyhound Lane in South West London approached C.P. Hart to design, supply, and install their primary bathroom – a space that hadn’t been touched in over 15 years. Outdated and poorly functioning, our team reconfigured the room to optimise space, reintroducing classical charm through a soothing colour palette of pearl and brushed nickel.

"The owners of Greyhound Lane prioritised the renovation of their bathroom when they moved into their new home," the Design team recalls. “The existing space was in poor condition, both in appearance and functionality, and required a complete remodel to transform it into the desired sanctuary.” A late Victorian property, the home features high ceilings with classical detailing throughout. It was important that the bathroom maintained this traditional styling whilst introducing modern elements to update the space.

“Our Waterloo showroom was the owners’ main source of inspiration,” explains the team. “Here, they fell in love with the pearl herringbone tiling from one of our displays, becoming the foundation for the bathroom’s design and influencing their choice of brassware and ceramic finishes.” To complement the tiles’ softness, the owners opted for brushed nickel brassware for the entire bathroom, specifying the tall Flo basin mixer “for its sleek mechanism and sculptural appearance.”

A frameless Matki Eauzone glass screen separates the shower and WC, complete with a flip panel to reduce splashing. Exclusive to C.P. Hart, the Kali wall-mounted WC and round washbasin are finished in Matt White to reflect the bathroom’s softer aesthetic. “The owners also selected our exclusive Hazel two-drawer vanity unit in Soft Grey, complete with a bespoke natural marble countertop and backsplash for added texture and detail.”

When the owners approached C.P. Hart, one of their main concerns was how to optimise the bathroom's limited space. "Narrow but long with tall ceilings, we extended the herringbone floor tiling up the back wall to create the illusion of a larger space. We then used the same tile in a 60 x 60 format for the shower area and painted the remaining walls in Farrow & Ball’s Wevet – a velvety white with grey tints."

To create more depth, antique-finish mirrors were installed in the twin niches at the back of the bathroom, chosen for their ease of maintenance and complete with heating pads to reduce condensation.
