Wellness Bathroom Design: A Personal Expression of Wellbeing

There is no prescribed aesthetic for wellness, just as there is no single way to experience it.

For C.P. Hart’s Design team, that openness is where the brief becomes exciting. Each of our designers have approached wellness bathroom design through a different lens, exploring how colour, material, light, and atmosphere can shape the way a space feels. From nature-inspired tones to coastal influences and richer, cocooning colour, these three concepts offer a starting point for thinking about your own sense of wellbeing — and what it could look like in your home.

Earthy Olive: a nature-inspired approach to wellness

The idea

"When I think about wellbeing, I always come back to nature. We instinctively seek out green spaces, natural light, and tactile materials because they offer a sense of distance from the pace of everyday life, so I wanted to bring those same qualities into the bathroom.

For Earthy Olive, I layered olive green with muted pink, warm timber, and natural stone to create a room that feels grounded rather than austere. To me, calm doesn’t have to mean pared back. A room can feel rich in colour and texture while still helping us switch off."

— Emma Scott, Director of Client Design at C.P. Hart

Why it works

Our relationship with nature has long informed the way we think about wellbeing. Natural materials introduce variation, tactility, and warmth, creating interiors that feel connected to the world beyond them.

In the bathroom, that relationship feels particularly natural. Water, stone, timber, and light already belong to the rituals of bathing. Combined with softer forms and an earthy palette, they create an atmosphere that feels grounded, restorative, and calm.

Here, wellness is not an addition to the design. It is embedded in the way the space looks and feels.

Coastal Calm: a restorative bathroom inspired by the coast

The idea

“Living on the south coast, I’m constantly aware of how restorative being near water can be. The coast has long offered a particular kind of escape. There is space to breathe, a horizon that draws the eye outward, and the constant presence of water, and I wanted to capture that feeling in this bathroom concept.

Coastal Calm takes inspiration from the colours and textures of the shoreline, using pale mineral blues, the tonal movement of water, natural surfaces, and an airy palette to create a sense of lightness. I deliberately avoided obvious nautical references. The result is a contemporary bathroom that carries something of the coastline’s restorative quality into the home.”

— Yousef Mansuri, Director of Design at C.P. Hart

Why it works

We often travel in search of the feeling this scheme evokes: distance, stillness, and a slower pace. Light, openness, and a connection to water can change the way a bathroom is experienced, turning an everyday routine into a moment of respite.

For those particularly drawn to water, that ritual can extend further. The contrast between warmth and cold has appeared across wellness traditions for centuries, and products such as Effe’s plunge bath allow that experience to become part of contemporary bathroom design.

Warm Ochre: a richer take on wellness bathroom design

The idea

“When people think about wellness, they often picture pale stone and quiet neutrals. I wanted to challenge that idea with Warm Ochre, proposing something richer.

Using deep, sun-baked tones, warmer stone, dark timber, and softened light, I wanted to create a bathroom that feels cocooning and intimate. Rather than depending on a sauna or steam room to signal wellbeing, the room’s atmosphere plays an equally important role.

The stronger palette does not compete for attention. Used tonally, it wraps the room in colour, creating a sense of cohesion and warmth.”

— Olianna Gonzalez, Principal Designer at C.P. Hart

Why it works

Colour has an extraordinary ability to alter our perception of space. A deeper palette can make a bathroom feel intimate and enveloping, offering an opportunity to be bolder with colour while maintaining a sense of calm.

Warm Ochre offers another interpretation of wellness-led bathroom design, where atmosphere carries as much weight as the individual features within the room. The way light falls, the warmth of a finish, and the feeling created when you enter the space all contribute to the wider experience of wellbeing.

Wellness can be atmospheric.
